Gametime Ticket App

Gametime Ticket App Review

When we tested the Gametime ticket app we kind of figured it would be just another boring ticket app, but we were pleasantly surprised after testing it. Gametime is a location based ticket and event app that noy only helps you figure out fun things to do around your location, but also gives you the chance to get chickets for cheap. You can also select different cities in case you are interested in something outside of your current location.

So many ticket and event apps these days are far too similar. They all have the same type of user interface and stadium/seat chart for ticket selection, and it’s very rare to find a fresh take in the app store. Gametime on the other hand provides a fresh, clean, and fun user experience that make searching for events and buying tickets enjoyable. They don’t overcomplicate things with a busy layout and just keep it very simple in order to allow people to focus on their core need – finding events and getting tickets for those events. Gametime also makes it very easy for people to sell tickets to events, and we think they can become a force that StubHub and Ticket Master have to deal with.

The coolest part about Gametime is their user interface. It delivers a super clean and simple experience for people looking for events and tickets around them, and also for people looking to sell tickets they already have. The developers at Gametime did a great job creating an easy-scroll interface that is color coded to make things simple to understand.

There are 3 categories in which you can search for tickets – Sports, Shows (concerts), and Theater. In the Sports categories they make it so each tab is the same color as the team. For example, the Los Angeles Kings tab is grey, the Los Angeles Chargers tab is blue. It’s the small details like this that often times make an app pleasurable or frustrating to use. Towards the top of each tab it tells you the date of the event, how much the cheapest tickets are, and how many tickets are available. That can really save you some time if you are looking for tickets at a certain price point or know that you need a certain number of them.

Once you select the event you are interested in it takes you to the next section where you select your seats. The default order the tickets are listed is by ascending value from cheapest to most expensive, that way you can check out what seats are available for cheap and scroll down quickly if you know you’re looking for some prime tickets. Within the tabs it gives you a quick preview of what the view looks like from your seats, and once you click on that tab you’re able to actually move the view as if you were looking around from those seats. That way you can get a very realistic idea of what the view looks like from those seats and what is and isn’t around you.

Within that same tab it lets you know if the tickets are available for mobile delivery or not, how many tickets are available next to each other, and if the Gametime Best Price Guarantee applies for those tickets. If the Guarantee applies that means you get 110% of the difference between the tickets you bought and the cheaper tickets that you found. That’s a pretty cool feature for people that take pride in knowing they got the best deal. Once you decide you want to purchase the tickets Gametime even gives you the option to take a picture of your credit card using your phone camera, just like the bank apps do. Since entering in your credit card and contact info can be very tedious (especially on the go), this can prove to be a very cool function. If you aren’t comfortable with that it lets you bypass that stage to enter in the info manually. In case you want to send the ticket options to people there is a quick chat bubble icon that allows you to text people, that way an entire group of people can get on the same page about whether or not they want to move forward with certain seats.

Like lots of newer apps do these days, Gametime has very seamless social integration that allows you to connect with contacts in your phone and through Facebook. Not only can you easily share what events you are attending to see who else is interested in going, but Gametime allows you to promote their app and earn the chance to receive a $5 bonus when people sign up and score the app through your custom link. We’re not saying you should quit your job and become a full time Gametime app promoter, but it’s just a little bonus for helping spread the word about a cool new ticket app.

The most popular ticket and event apps like StubHub and Ticket Monster are great, but Gametime creates a special little niche in the marketplace by utilizing a clean modern interface, and by focusing their offering on time sensitive tickets. You can plan ahead and buy tickets months out, but the real advantage of using Gametime is that you are getting awesome deals by purchasing tickets close to you know what…..”game time.”

The main reason why most people like apps is because they add a certain level of convenience and make things easier, and we think that Gametime was really able to capitalize on this. Even if you don’t want to pony up the money for tickets to something, it is fun just searching through the app and seeing what events are happening by you. It can even give you ideas about things to do in the future, whether that is a band or venue you never heard of or a sporting event that includes your favorite teams. If one of your Facebook friends uses the app you can even see what events they are interested in going to. When it comes down to it, we strongly believe that Gametime will continue to build momentum and become an even stronger player in the tickets and event game.
