Flipp has to be one of the best coupon and deal finding apps ever invented. While Groupon and Living Social own the daily deal space, Flipp owns the coupon and deal finding world. We would classify it as a coupon app because that seems to really be the main focus of the user interface. Once you login it allows you to select your favorite stores that you would be interested at shopping at, and then it gives you multiple options to find deals at those stores.
You can browse by category for deals in your local area, on anything from bacon and eggs to TV’s and blankets. After testing the app we estimate that the developers at Flipp spent LOTS of money and countless man hours building it, because the technology is really quite impressive. It allows you to view digital flyers like the ones that come in the mail on Sunday, but instead of circling things with a marker or cutting them out all you need to do is just tap it to add it to your shopping list. There is a big red circle that appears after you do so to confirm you selected the right item, and instantly you can see that it’s been added to your shopping list at the bottom of the screen. You can even combine your shopping list with friends’ lists in case you’re planning a trip or event.

The biggest issue we saw with Flipp is that sometimes it could take a while for the digital flyers to load up, and it seems like they load faster if you start swiping to the right or swiping up. That can always be effected by wireless internet speed, but it definitely would’ve been good if those pages loaded faster. Since the technology is pretty advanced we assume that it just takes a second for the interface to load them and make the “add to shopping list” function available.
We were impressed by multitude of options it gives you to browse coupons and deals. Usually these types of apps have a few categories to browse in, but the Flipp deal and coupon app gives you a lot. You can browse by store, category, location, most recent, best deals, and more. It seems like the deals and coupons are updated daily and even throughout the day, and that’s awesome because a lot of other apps and sites like this have deals and coupons that are old and sometimes don’t even work.
One of the most impressive things about Flipp is that it actually helps you discover some amazing deals; Not just a few dollars or cents off, but we’re talking some amazing prices that are hard to believe. Considering the deal amounts it really makes it worth your time to sit down and browse around for a while.
